Privacy Policy for SpendSense

Overview

SpendSense ("the app") is a personal expense and income tracking application. This privacy policy explains how the app handles your information.

Data Collection

SpendSense does not collect any personal data. Specifically:

• The app has no internet permission and cannot send data anywhere, to anyone, at any time.
• There are no user accounts, no sign-in, and no identifiers tied to you.
• There is no analytics, crash reporting, or advertising SDK of any kind.
• The developer has no server, database, or other system that receives information from the app. There is nothing for the developer to access, because nothing ever leaves your device.

Data Storage

All information you enter into SpendSense — expense/income entries, categories, recurring entry templates, and settings — is stored only in a local database on your device.

• This data is never transmitted anywhere.
• Uninstalling the app, clearing its storage, or losing/resetting your device will permanently delete this data, unless you have created a backup yourself (see below).

Backups and Exports

SpendSense lets you export your data as a JSON backup file or an Excel (.xlsx) report, and import a previously exported JSON backup. These features:

• Only run when you explicitly tap the export/import buttons in Settings.
• Use the Android system file picker (Storage Access Framework) so you choose exactly where the file is saved or read from.
• Do not upload the file anywhere. The file goes only to the location you pick (e.g., your device's Downloads folder), and it is your responsibility to manage and safeguard those files afterward.

App Lock / Biometric Authentication

SpendSense offers an optional "App Lock" setting. When enabled, it uses Android's built-in BiometricPrompt API to require your device's existing screen lock (PIN, pattern, or biometric) before opening the app.

• SpendSense does not collect, store, or have access to your fingerprint, face data, PIN, or pattern. Authentication is handled entirely by the Android operating system.
• This setting only controls whether the app screen is visible; it does not affect your stored data in any other way.

Children's Privacy

SpendSense is a general-purpose personal finance tool and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect information from anyone at all.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes in the future (for example, if a new feature is added that changes how data is handled), this document will be updated and the "Last updated" date above will reflect the change.
